COVID-19 Update: Transitioning to Virtual Class Sessions

Updated as of April 2, 2020

For the health and safety of our participants, due to increasing concerns about the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), current face-to-face Penn Boot Camp cohorts will shift to virtual class sessions.

To ensure a seamless transition, we’re providing extra training to all active instructional staff on how to effectively lead classes on Zoom through proper equipment use, breakout rooms, and specific engagement tactics that work well in a synchronous online session, as well as additional specialized training sessions.

What are some benefits of this transition to virtual class sessions?

Same Academic Quality

You will experience the same skilled instruction and market-driven curriculum as our existing in-person classes, learning the most up-to-date tools and technologies to meet the demands of employers. The quality bar for online class sessions is equally high.

High Levels of Support & Attention

Virtual classes still boast extremely high levels of support for all participants, both inside and outside of the virtual classroom. In virtual class, you will benefit from real-time support from your instructors and teaching assistants. Outside of class, you will continue to benefit from communication with and assistance from your Participant Success Team, teaching assistants, tutor network, and peers.

Participants are never alone or stuck for very long because there’s an entire team making sure they’re successful in the boot camp.

Flexibility With Accountability

Virtual classes will allow you the flexibility to learn from home to minimize risk during this time, while also providing the same high level of personal accountability as learning in-person. The face-to-face interaction with our instructors and TAs during virtual classes each week ensures that we’re able to check in with participants, give feedback, and make sure that your work and knowledge retention are where they need to be.

An Active Community of Participants

Attending classes virtually doesn’t mean that you will have to sacrifice engagement with other participants. You will work with others in your cohort to problem-solve during breakout sessions, outside of class, and on projects — just as you would in an in-person setting. We encourage (and facilitate) lots of participant interaction to build a sense of togetherness and shared knowledge.

A Tested Modality

Our ability to deliver a top learning experience via virtual classes is tried and tested. Our online coding boot camp delivers its boot camp classes online and we are confident in our ability to continue to deliver successful outcomes for participants in this format.

At Penn Boot Camps, the participant experience is our top priority.

That includes taking the necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of our participants. We know that navigating these uncertain times can be difficult, but we are working hard to continue to provide our participants with the uninterrupted delivery of a first-rate educational experience.
