I could not have made it this far without this bootcamp. I came into the is bootcamp with some basic front end skills and emerged fully equipped to market myself as a Full Stack Developer. I am so grateful to the incredibly supportive TAs, instructors and SSM at Penn LPS who gave me the confidence and the tools I needed to succeed.

I chose to attend the program to open career opportunities that were otherwise unavailable to me. It was the quickest and most economical way to shift my career trajectory, but that didn’t mean it was easy. I was confronted with an incredibly steep learning curve given that I joined the boot camp without any programming experience. I would not recommend joining a boot camp without some idea of what you are getting into, but that said, it is possible to succeed without prior programming experience. I kept my motivation up by reminding myself that I joined the boot camp to make a positive change in my life, and I’m happy to report the decision to join the boot camp really paid off. I now have a better job, a brand new skill set, new friends, access to a new community, a solid entry into the tech industry, and a lot more confidence in myself. In this sense, the boot camp experience was truly life-changing.

Review: “I especially appreciated the fact that people of Color made up the leadership roles during my cohort. Representation is essential, and it was valuable that I got to see myself in the professionals that I interacted with throughout the six months of the bootcamp.”

I decided to attend the Penn LPS Coding Bootcamp for a multitude of reasons – I want to make a difference in the world, and felt like tech was a perfect next step for me. I also want to support my family in the U.S. and in Peru, since I believe that my success is our collective success. And I wanted to challenge myself and continue growing, and heard good things about the program. I was a community organizer for immigrant rights and climate justice for 7 years. …it was really important for me to be involved in my community and advocate for migrant liberation and the planet. I honestly didn’t know that I could study to be a web developer, but I met another woman who is employed in the tech industry who helped me reconsider. I wanted to see if I even liked it, so I began self-teaching through free and low-cost online resources, but felt like I was missing support and a structured curriculum. After getting encouragement from family and friends, I decided to join the bootcamp. It was important for me to get an in-person experience to engage in collective growth and learning. I gained a lot from this experience, especially getting to meet, work with, and learn from our instructor and TA’s. I especially appreciated the fact that people of Color made up the leadership roles during my cohort. Representation is essential, and it was valuable that I got to see myself in the professionals that I interacted with throughout the six months of the bootcamp. I also made beautiful lifelong friendships. A group of us … often got together to build applications, and even now keep in touch and constantly root for each other’s accomplishments. Becoming part of this community meant a lot to me, and I was happy that some of us got to build those relationships. I recently got offered an apprenticeship to a full-time role with a company that I’m really excited about and deeply believe in, since their work lines up with my values of creating positive social impact. I’m grateful for the journey throughout the bootcamp, and excited for what’s yet to come.

Review: “The program hasn’t even ended, but I’ve already landed a new job where I’ll be developing JavaScript applications.”

I chose to attend the program because I felt stuck at my current job. Working in academic research provides very little upward movement, and career trajectories are all but non-existent. I enjoyed the data-analytics aspect of my work, but not the day-to-day, so I started dabbling in Python as a way to help analyze and visualize data. This sparked my initial interest in programming. I started to learn more Python basics, but was really struggling finding a structured approach to teaching myself the necessary information to land a job. I came across the boot-camp and appreciated that it had the backings of a well-known university and decided to take the plunge. It turned out, the structure was exactly what I needed, and the classes had the incredible bonus of being in-person. This program taught me that I am more capable then I could have ever thought. It offered me the opportunity to learn alongside others who shared the same goal. Grinding through the curriculum with people who share a common goal and interest was such a great bonding experience, and really helped enrich my learning. I no longer tackle new coding-related problems with skepticism, but with a self-assurance that I will find the answers I’m looking for — eventually. The program hasn’t even ended, but I’ve already landed a new job where I’ll be developing JavaScript applications.

I was looking to make a career change, and to finally pursue a longtime interest in coding and computer programming. The … Bootcamp changed my life. From the first day of class, something clicked – and I knew that this was what had been missing in my life. From that moment onward, I immersed myself in the world of programming – and I haven’t looked back since. The curriculum, teaching staff, and career services team were awesome – and have more than prepared me for making this career change. All of this, along with the hard work I put in each day, has landed me a job at one of the leading companies in the country. I couldn’t be more excited to get my start in the industry. It genuinely has been the best decision I’ve made, both professionally and personally. Thank you!

I was on a self-taught route which was taking a rather long time(months on one programming language). I figured that having input from an actual mentor and being in a classroom environment would propel me further to not only have learned more compared to self-taught but also in a shorter amount of time.

It has impacted my life in a positive matter. The professor and the teaching assistants were absolutely incredible. Knowledgeable yet very personable. I feel that I also lucked out on having the best classmates one could ever ask for. We were all very collaborative and supportive of each other, which is super important for learning and growth. Being able to feel comfortable in your learning environment and being fearless on asking for help pushed me even further. It could be a silly question or a question that I’m not even sure makes sense to ask, but because I asked those questions I was able to make sense of a lot of concepts. When they say don’t be afraid to ask questions, I understand why they say that now. This program has taught me not only the developer skills I wanted to have in my toolbox but also the positive/constructive mentality to be productive and to be persistent in learning.

I chose to attend the… Coding Bootcamp because I wasn’t excited when confronting new opportunities in my previous field (education). The pay was low compared to what I wanted and I was being worked well over the 40 hours a week that I was salaried for. Someone had recommended trying a bootcamp so I researched the ones near me. While the Penn LPS program was more expensive, I knew that getting certified through Penn LPS would offer me more professional opportunities than the other programs. The program was rigorous and at times, I wondered how I would fare. However, having completed the course, I’m so grateful that I chose this course. My salary has more than doubled, I’m challenged daily in my new position, but I have such a supportive team and employer.

I’ve always wanted to be in the tech industry but just didn’t know how to get in. My experience was very difficult and overwhelming at times because I had a very demanding job in which I worked long early hours and it was 80 miles from home. The thing I loved most about the program is all of the support and encouragement I received. I couldn’t have made it through without it. Bootcamp opened up many new avenues for me to be able to create all sorts of applications and an arena where I’m constantly being challenged to improve

This boot-camp was well executed, I chose to attend this program to make a change in careers and move into a industry that is always ever changing. I wanted to further my education with the best possible payout, and I believe this program has helped me with this. My life has been significantly impacted by the growth and opportunities this has presented me. I loved the people, the Ta’s , instructors, classmates, career services. I worked with Kyle Martinowich who some what became a therapist for me to vent my insecurities, overcome my impostor syndrome, and help prepare me for interviews. Even with a rough hiccup in the be beginning of the cohort, our team with Benard and Quincy really strive to make it seamless. I enjoyed my time with this program.

I chose to attend Penn LPS Full Stack Coding Bootcamp because I wanted to get training for a career that was both technical and creative and offered a robust job market and high salaries for entry-level employees. Furthermore, I wanted to minimize the amount of money and time I needed to spend on education. This coding bootcamp filled all of those criteria. It was a great experience where I was able to learn a tremendous amount with a great group of teachers, TAs, and classmates, and within a month after really beginning my job search post-bootcamp I secured a job that pays more than double any I’d had previously. This will allow me to save money to hopefully buy a house, and give me the job skills I need to find employment anywhere life may take me. I’m very thankful for Trilogy and Penn LPS for providing this opportunity, and I would highly recommend it to anybody interested in jumping into a new career!

Everyday I have class, I am very happy. I love learning about the technologies that I am learning and being with my classmates, TAs, and instructor. I chose this BootCamp because it was held at University of Pennsylvania College of Liberal and Professional Studies and I knew someone else who heard of the program, although she didn’t attend herself. The timing and cost also happened to work out. It has impacted my life significantly as I will be happier in every aspect of my life, without even knowing how dissatisfied I was beforehand.

I chose to attend the program because I was unhappy working in finance and decided that the best solution was to leave the industry behind and change careers. I had been unhappy since my first month working in finance and had been working on figuring out my next steps since then. I tried different positions in corporate finance and even switched careers to a wildly different area of finance (equity research). However, I remained unhappy and realized finance was the problem. So, after a year of research and introspection, I decided on software development as my next career, but it took a few years after that decision to make the leap, quit my job, and leave my finance accomplishments behind.

Though it was a terrifying endeavor to leave a high paying and successful career, I am very happy with my decision. I learned skills that I believe are invaluable to our increasingly digital world and was able to find a job walking distance from my home in just a month and a half after graduating from the program.

It’s hard to determine the exact impact of the program until I am a few years out, but I believe it will end up being a positive one once the data comes through… in my head. Regardless of the lack of a measurable impact this soon, I am very happy I made the decision to attend the program.

I chose to do the coding boot camp because I wanted to transition my career into web development. I also wanted to learn the best practices of modern development in a structured classroom environment and receive mentorship. I would say it has impacted my life positively since it introduced me to a new circle of developers who have helped elevate me to accomplish my career goals. I’m happy I completed this program because I wouldn’t have been able to find this new developer job, or found such a supportive group to help me through this process.

I always had an interest in coding after taking an Intro to Computer Science class in college, but never acted on it further. After starting my first job out of college, I chose to revisit my initial interest from that class in college by taking a few coding classes on Udemy where I realized that this is what I wanted to do. As a result, I decided to get serious about pursuing a career in software development by researching different bootcamp options. I choose to attend the Penn LPS Coding Bootcamp because it seemed like the best fit for me and I’m really happy that I did. I learned so much in those 6 months and was surrounded by a like-minded group of people who shared the same passion for coding. A few months after completing the bootcamp, I was able to land a role where I am able to utilize my coding skills and take my first step of my software development career.

Overall extremely positive experience. The highlight of the program was my instructor, Dan. He was helpful all along, very encouraging, and very knowledgable. He made the material fun and pushed us all to do better. Definitely would recommend to anyone interested in a bootcamp.

I came in with a lot of back-end experience and really wanted to shore-up my front-end skills. I felt that the program did a great job of offering us a glimpse into everything needed in 2020 to succeed in a front-end dev role.

I chose to attend this bootcamp because I needed a new challenge in my life, something that would spark my curiosity and exercise my creative and logical sides. I’ve been curious about web development for months prior to the program but did not want to enroll into a University. This program showed up on a Instagram ad and I decided to just go for it. I knew it was going to be a challenge and I’m so glad I did it. I proved to myself that I can overcome big learning challenges which have given me incredible confidence and knowledge on current technologies. I’m thankful for the helpful instructors and TA’s and the career services department. I have landed a new role in about a month after the program. I’m very excited to move forward on this career path.

My experience in the program was excellent. I learned more than I thought possible in the 24-week course period. It was an intense time, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I chose to attend because I had been interested in software development for a long time, but I didn’t know how to get the training I would need. When I saw the program advertised online, I knew that it was right for me.

My life has been impacted by gaining relevant skills for the current job market, plus the knowledge to learn any new languages or frameworks I may need. Even though I took a slight pay cut for my first developer role, I know that will be temporary and I am set for success in the future.

I had an awesome experience in the program. Everyone was really helpful and it was a great way for me to change careers. I started learning programming in college, but then had a gap in my studies for five years. When I began the course, I was totally blank and everything was new, due to new frameworks programming methodologies. I heard about Penn LPS Coding Boot Camp and felt like it was a good opportunity to learn and change my career. I just want to say thank you to everyone — my instructor, TAs, career services, Student Success Manager, and classmates who supported me throughout the entire program and provided both moral support and assistance.

I have a background in fine arts and began studying web design a few years ago as a way to apply my visual communication skills towards a new career path. Through that process, I discovered a passion for coding. I learned about the Penn LPS Coding Boot Camp at a point when I was searching for opportunities to expand my network and accelerate my learning to make my career transition in the near future. I was impressed by the partnership between UPenn and Trilogy as well as the focus on career development.

I think the intensity of this program was exactly what I needed to challenge myself to learn a lot of new skills in a short amount of time and immerse myself in the development world. Having structured projects to build my portfolio and populate my GitHub account was also a huge benefit as I started thinking about applying for jobs.

I know that I still have a lot to learn about web development and the tech industry in general, but I’m now confident in my ability to continue learning these new skills and am hopeful that once I get comfortable working in a professional development environment, I’ll be able to move up to a more senior role quickly.
